Weeding a yard

Grassing a yard - a professional guide to creating the perfect lawn

Creating a quality grass carpet is one of the most complex processes. Many owners think, that weeding ends with the scattering of seeds, but the truth is, that success is rooted in prior engineering preparation of the terrain. Professional ryegrass requires proper soil structure, precise drainage and hydraulic calculations for irrigation.

Content

Stage 1: Soil analysis and field cleaning

Professional weeding it starts with a complete weeding (often by a total herbicide with a quarantine period) and stones.

  • Texture: If the soil is heavy and clayey, quartz sand must be added to improve aeration.
  • Chemical composition: If necessary, adjust the pH level, to provide an optimal environment for germination.

Stage 2: Vertical layout and drainage system

Before sowing, the terrain must be leveled with precision.

  • Slopes: Minimum slopes are ensured (1-2%) away from buildings, to avoid water stagnation (t.nar. "water lentils"), which cause rot and moss.
  • Drainage: For properties with a high level of groundwater, pipe drainage is constructed, hidden under the soil layer.

Stage 3: Integration of automated irrigation

Never sow grass before testing the irrigation system. The grass carpet needs 100% coverage. The professional project guarantees, that there will be no "dry patches", which later go bald, or excessively wet areas.

Stage 4: Preparation of the seed bed and milling

The soil is milled to a depth 15-20 cm, until it becomes homogeneous and fine. This is followed by fine leveling with a landscape rake. The surface must be hard (not to sink when stepped on), but with a loose top layer of approx 1 cm.

Stage 5: Selection of grass mixture and sowing

The choice of seeds depends on the exhibition (sun/shade) and the purpose of the yard (decorative or for play).

  • Sowing rate: Usually 35-50 grams per square meter.
  • Cross sowing: The seeds are spread mechanically in two perpendicular directions for maximum density.

Stage 6: Validation and initial care

After sowing, the seeds are covered with a fine layer of peat and rolled with a garden roller. This ensures contact of the seed with the soil, which is critical for germination.

  • Watering: The first ones 14 days the soil should not dry for even an hour. Short ones are used, but honor watering (3-4 times a day).
  • First mowing: It's being done, when the grass reaches 8-10 cm, being taken away only 1/3 from her height with extremely sharp knives.

Frequently asked questions

1. How long does weeding take??
The technical preparation takes from 3 to 7 дни, and for full visual effect of “green carpet” are needed approx 4-6 weeks under optimal conditions.

2. Seeds or grass chim?
The chime gives an instant result, but it is more expensive. The seeds offer a greater variety of varieties and are more economical for large areas.

3. Can it be sown on old grass??
Not, this is a mistake. Old vegetation must be removed, and the soil - processed anew, to ensure success.

Conclusion

Weeding a yard is an engineering challenge, which requires patience and methodology. At Eno Park, we don't believe in random results - each of our lawn projects is based on proper preparation and selection of certified seeds. The end result is sustainable, thick and healthy grass, which will be the pride of your home for years to come.
